During this special time away from our day-to-day activities, we can dive into exploring our bodies and souls, more profoundly discovering “svaroopa”, the “bliss of your own being”. This retreat is for those who truly enjoy their journey of self-discovery, regardless of their level of yoga experience. about your guide

Savita has led yoga retreats for 12 years. She is a certified hatha yoga instructor and yoga therapist. She received her teacher certification in the Svaroopa yoga tradition from the Master Yoga Academy in La Jolla in 1996. She also received certification in the Hakomi Method and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. Her personal healing experience through Svaroopa yoga as well as her in-depth training in body/mind therapies have given her a thorough understanding of the body/mind connection and the power of the body’s innate healing ability. Savita’s unique approach to yoga as a way of life encourages and supports her students to look deeply inward and to cultivate more compassion and acceptance of themselves.

Changes/transition– amazing, we are already half way through the year.   Seems that all around things are speeding up a bit, I guess the call for transformation, individually and collectively is getting louder and louder.   Well, I had my fair share of change this first part of the year; some of it relating to work, family and relationship.   The latter truly represented a big test by the universe and I had to dig deep into inner resources and also the support of friends and community.    Excerpts of a Rumi poem kept reminding me of what it is really all about: 

“Love comes with a knife, not some shy question, and not with fears for its reputation!  You’ve been walking the ocean’s edge, holding up your robes to keep them dry.  You must dive naked under, and deeper under, a thousand times deeper!  Love flows down.  The ground submits to the sky and suffers what comes. Tell me, is the earth worse for giving in like that?  Don’t put blankets over the drum! Open completely”!

Or as Babjii said when I asked for his advice:  “Without dispassion nothing is achieved! Whatever comes, you accept it”!

Interestingly, in our meditation group in Mission Viejo we are currently studying some of Patanjalis Sutras, one of which is on ‘dispassion’.   I am feeling once again very blessed that we have access to all these wonderful resources and connections with each other through our meditation groups,  yoga classes and retreats.  Personally, I find great support in knowing that we truly are all connected even if sometimes it is difficult to accept and realize that.  

Which brings me to a very important announcement:  If you haven’t heard yet, our annual Women’s Retreat is just around the corner.   And this year it will be held at Shambhala Mountain Center in Colorado, Oct. 16^th -20^th.     And as in years past I’d like to highlight:  these annual retreats are not only a wonderful way to deepen into your yoga and meditation practice, but also represent a special opportunity to explore ‘community’ and ‘personal healing’ through the deepening of connection with other like minded women.  And during times such as these, many of you will probably agree, our most powerful resource is:  having the support of each other.   So please join us because without you it wouldn’t be the same.  Om shantih yours Savita
